Written by Andy Nabb and Daniel Loflin and as usual they gave us a episode that seemed to divide opinion.

But I thought it was fun.

It was light and funny and made me laugh out loud more than a few times. I reckon you have to have a particular type of humour to enjoy this kind of thing and it helps if you can laugh at yourself.

The opening title card was inspired... loved it.

Jared and Jensen really do have such a talent for humour. Dean's reaction to Sam in the first scenes were hilarious and seeing Sam happy and smiling made me all warm and fuzzy.

The enthusiastic and obsessive side of Becky represents a lot of us fan girls...but in this she goes darker, and she's driven over the edge by her personal issues. She does the unacceptable and uses a love potion on Sam.

So why have the writers shown Becky going over the edge? Afterall she did kind of represent us in fandom.  Did they go too far? I couldn't avoid some people's comments and  was shocked that some thought it was rapey! So was it?

I don't think so at all.

Mostly because Becky had convinced herself that Sam really loved her...deep, deep down...and that he only needed the love potion to bring it to the surface. If there's any redeeming qualities to her in all this, it's her waiting to consummate the marriage because she wants true love to win out. It's as if she was waiting for something magical to happen so she could live happy ever after. When her fantasy starts to fade, when Sam called for Dean and she hit Sam with the waffle iron and then tied him to the bed, (Misery style – and his no.1 fan) it looked as if there was no going back for her. It seemed at that point she would go the whole hog and take the demon's deal and by that time I was hoping she would, because Dean would have to gank her and that would be the last we see of her. But no, she did the decent thing at the last minute and got to live. Even so, I hope that's the last we see of her  because now she's just too damn annoying.

Plus she got to tie Sam to the bed! Bitch! That's my job. :D

Don't look so shocked. Yes it is.

I really enjoyed the 'selling your soul' plot in this...for once I didn't guess the punchline and loved seeing Crowley turn up at the end. It was fairly obvious he'd team up with the Sam and Dean at some point to destroy the Leviathans and I loved the way he used the situation to his advantage. Unless he planned it that way of course, being the devious King of Hell he is. And I loved Crowley's off hand attitude to Becky.

We also get to meet a new hunter, Garth, and Dean's new fwend. I hope we see him again.

Other good stuff:

The Crossroad Demon with his contracts and the loopholes.

Sam with the towel in mouth saying 'Oh you got that right!'
And I understood every word.

Going forward with Sam and Dean's relationship with Dean coming to the realisation that he has no idea how to be his own person any more.

Recognition that Sam knows that Lucifer is still rattling around in his head and is dealing with it. Although I know that won't last.

----

Things I weren't so keen on:

The not!Impala. Come on baby...where are you?

The throw away line about the annual Vegas trip! I know have to go and check to see if that's been mentioned before. I have a vague memory of Dean wanting to go to Vegas but do we know if they have actually gone? When did they fit that in?

----

This kind of episode is why I love the show. It's not one the best episodes ever...but it does dare to go where other shows wouldn't even dip their little toe.

Very entertaining stuff.
