Supernatural: Season 6 x 05 "Live Free or Twi-Hard"
So for the first 5 mins we get our very own Supernatural Twilight. Or I assume it was as I’ve never watched any of the movies. Although I did take a peek at The Vampire Diaries the other night just to prepare myself. :) Loved every minute. Of this ep I mean. :)
When Sam and Dean were in the missing girls bedroom for one brief moment it was a little taste of the brotherly banter *sigh* That didn’t last I know but still…it was good.
When Sam was trying to guess the password (how come they always find it in a few tries - never happens at work when I try when someone’s on holiday and I need to access their computer) and he asks how many ‘t’s? It took me three viewings to discover that he wasn’t trying to guess how many ’t’s in ‘pants’! :p
In the club we get Dean almost back to his old self but Sam’s way, way off any Sam we’ve known. He seems oblivious to Dean’s friendly chat…I don’t think Sam was ignoring him…he just wasn’t there emotionally.
The same as when he rounds the corner just in time to see Dean getting attacked by the vamp. First he looked shocked, then curious, almost fascinated as if he didn’t quite understand what he felt and then there was that evil turn of his mouth. The lights maybe on but the Sammy we know and love is definitely not there!
So, no more hints and maybes now…just a big ol’ smack in the face with the obvious. ‘There’s something definitely wrong with Sam.’
I love it and hate it! Fantastically done but it’s making me jittery. I thought I could be patient…but no…I want to know what’s up with him…NOW!
I keep thinking of the interviews Jared made before the season started. He kept saying Sam was going to be harder, more Dean like and so on. Now I reckon that was such a red herring….sneaky, sneaky, sneaky. I bet Sera and all of them are really enjoying the turmoil they’re putting us through!
Back to the club… and the clinical way Sam whipped off the vamps head. Nice. You maybe cold!Sam but you sure look hot! I love the way you move.
I don’t know where to start with Dean. I feel so bad for him. It was heart breaking to see him trying to fight off his blood craving and as he thought he was going to die he had to see Lisa one more time. And he’s now blown it with her. Maybe she could forgive him if she’d just herself to consider after all Dean makes a very sexy vamp. But putting Ben in harm’s way? No chance.
And I’ll have to watch again to try and understand what was going on with Dean’s vision of the little girls. That’s part of the ongoing arc I reckon…something that we aren’t meant to understand at the minute.
Deans chat with his sire was very creepy…but Jensen does such a great job of looking restrained and sickened at the same time when the guy is coming on to him. And later when he fights off all the vamps and stands there with that big bloody knife and that evil look in his eye. Guh!
And it’s interesting to consider why they chose the big hairy guy to sire Dean and not some good looking super stud. Maybe they were being kind to us…they didn’t want us to blow a gasket! :D
I liked that we get to see that Samuel’s on the boys' side and I think it safe to say now that he isn‘t evil. Thinking about why would he say ‘Looks like your brother has some Campbell in him after all’ isn’t quite the insult we think it is. When you consider he never got to see John becoming a hunter because he was dead well before that happened, the name Winchester doesn’t equal ‘awesome hunter’ to him at all. It was the Campbell’s who were traditionally the hunters. This is assuming that when you’re in Heaven you don’t know what’s happening with the living. That was never made clear in ‘The Dark side of the Moon’ was it? I can't remember.
A few random thoughts:
Does Sam have super hearing? How did he know the vamp was about to jump onto the van roof?
Great effects with the head lopping!
Boys kissing! And the look on Sam and Dean’s faces.
The whole scene with Dean and the not!vamp boy. Dean’s face when the boy removes his vamp teeth.
When Dean gets thrown into the air by the hairy vamp. That’s some flying through the air for the stunt guy. Or maybe it’s Jensen?
